Prototype vac mold

swim platform

After developing the Ski200 I was determined to create a better swim platform.  The weight of a swim platform has a huge effect on the wake behind a ski boat.  Its weight is aft of the transom and drives the stern deep into the water creating wake and troughs that are not wanted by any skier.  I built this platform by creating a RTM mold that casts the

elaborate bottom FRP part.  It has a ribbed

surface that works as a very light truss

system that can support the weight of skiers.

It is hollow and has stainless vents that

allows water to pass in and out as needed.

This eliminates the risk of water-logging.

Some similar closed cell components can

get small cracks and become impregnated

by the surrounding water and double in

weight.  I also molded in the Nautique logo

gust to give it a special touch.

The top piece is an open molded part that is

Bonded to the lower using a methacrylate

adhesive.  Lastly the assembly is trimmed

around the perimeter and closed-cell non

skid is adhered to the top surface.
