I was challenged to design a ski locker that was integrated into the gunnel of the all new Nautique Ski200. Each locker was designed to hold two skis or one slalom ski. To simplify manufacturing and tighten the gap around the perimeter of the opening I decided to make the lid of one solid piece of 3/8 acrylic that was bent on a jig and the perimeter then cut with a 5 axis router. Gas shocks hold the lid open and a bulb seal keeps the compartment watertight. The lid is finished with nonskid and is perfect for entering the boat from a dock.
Now you can lock your skis in the boat and always be ready. No more loading and unloading from the dock, or boat house. Best of all your expensive skis are protected from the elements and not in a nasty old hull ski locker or sliding around on the floor.
