This stainless shield was built to protect large pyrex and plastic round plug assemblies in commercial fueling systems with automatic shut-offs.  They are prone to damage by being dropped and or run over by maintenance vehicles near and around light rail vehicles.  A damaged plug can result in the delay of a vehicle being fueled in time for its next departure.  This inexpensive solution prevents delayed service penalties.
